Paul NEAGU (1938-2004).
Born in Bucharest, Neagu is a British-Romanian artist, famous for his shooting star-shaped wooden sculptures and drawings.
Neagu first studied in the ‘Nicolae Grigorescu Fine Art Institute’ in Bucharest, before settling in the UK in 1969. The same year, he publishes the Manifest of ‘Tangible Objects” and founds the “Generative Arts” movement. His works attempt to expose the energy of desire, instead of inhibiting it. He begins to teach art in 1972 and eventually becomes a professor at the Royal College of Art in London in 1975. He obtains the British nationality in 1976 and continues to give lectures in prestigious institutions of art all around the UK.
